Joseph Tassoni: A New Vision of Canadian Fashion
For SS/FW 2027, Canadian designer Joseph Tassoni explores confidence, sensuality and personal authority through 88 looks — transforming his Toronto runway into an immersive experience where fashion, technology, art and community meet.
On September 18, Joseph Tassoni presented Natural Authority, his SS/FW 2027 collection, at Arcadia Earth at The Well in Toronto.
Presented through two sold-out runway experiences, the 88-look collection marked the latest chapter in the Canadian designer’s four-year journey of building an independent platform around fashion, creativity and community. This season, however, Tassoni expanded the concept beyond the runway, bringing together clothing, digital art, technology, hospitality and philanthropy within a single experience.
At its centre was an exploration of presence — and the confidence that comes from knowing who you are.
“Natural Authority is about presence — the confidence of knowing who you are without having to announce it,” says Joseph Tassoni.
Strength Meets Sensuality
The collection explores the relationship between strength and vulnerability, expressed through refined silhouettes, sheer layers, leather, rich textures and a restrained palette of black, white and neutral tones.
Moving between warm- and cold-weather dressing, the looks balance structure with exposure and control with freedom. Sheer fabrication introduces a sense of vulnerability, while sharper silhouettes and leather bring strength and definition.
Together, these contrasts create a more intimate and sensual visual language while continuing Tassoni’s focus on Canadian craftsmanship.
“Each piece reflects the duality at the heart of the brand: structure and freedom, strength and sensuality, control and expression,” Joseph explains.
The runway itself reflected the collection’s emphasis on individuality. Alongside professional models, the presentations brought together Canadian celebrities and personalities, cancer survivors, creators and members of the Joseph Tassoni community.

When the Designer Becomes the Artwork
Natural Authority extended beyond clothing.
For the first time, Tassoni presented an official public art installation — a large-scale digital work conceived and created by the designer himself.
Through projection, sound and moving visuals, Tassoni’s own image was deconstructed and reconstructed within the space, blurring the boundaries between fashion, self-portraiture, technology and digital performance art.
The installation placed the designer directly inside the creative world he had built, turning the idea of personal authority into something audiences could experience beyond the garments themselves.
It also reflected the broader direction of Tassoni’s annual presentation, which has evolved over four years from a traditional runway into an experience connecting fashion with other creative disciplines.
