TikTok’s Latest Fashion Obsession: Labubu Bag Charms

2025’s strangest fashion trend so far might just be the Labubu purse keychains. The TikTok viral Chinese monster plush toys have become a fun accessory for the fashionistas. Influencers are collecting them in different colours and hanging them on bags, belts, and even car mirrors.

Adorable in their own demonic way, the collectible plush toys were designed and created by Kasing Lung. In 2019, the Hong Kong-born artist partnered up with the Chinese toy company Pop Mart, which earned Labubus popularity on a global scale. However, they have only just recently become an aesthetic trend online with the help of mystery boxes. 

Labubus are definitely a trend for collectors since there are so many editions and series that they come in. Some people are even giving their little monsters outfits of their very own. While they do have an uncanny smile and mischievous energy, many believe they look downright menacing—they are either loved or completely disliked. 

You could always match your shoes and purses to your outfit, but now you can match your Labubu to your purse. They do have a certain charm to them if you like creepy-cute things. The question is, will the trend last? Before Labubus dominated TikTok, the Japanese Sonny Angel figurines popped up everywhere, including phone cases.  But with so many different Labubu models to collect, they could be an ongoing trend for a while. 

Since you can have a Labubu for every outfit, they could easily remain a popular fashion accessory to spice up your look.  And yet, the little gremlin-like toys have managed to make it beyond a fashion statement. They are in memes, and have inspired off-brand/knockoff plushies known as Lafufus—which usually appear to be deformed in some way, adding a comedic spin on the fad. Regardless, if you want to add some dramatic flair to decorate your purse, you can now find all sorts of Labubus to accessorize it with.
