PEARLETTA’s Overtime Collection Served the “Office Siren”Aesthetic at Fashion Art Toronto 2025

Lynda Sinclair, PEARLETTA’s fashion designer, made jaws drop with her Overtime collection during Fashion Art Toronto this year. The designs showcased modern business-styled outfits with a seductive twist.
With suit-like two pieces, stylish glasses, stripes, flashy overcoats, ties, wide sleeve and pant cuffs, sheer stockings, necklaces with extra bling, and a series of the brand’s handbags, the models embodied office workers dressed to impress. Beyond just fashion, the collection brought attitude with flare to the catwalk, showing that style is not exclusively about looks—it also portrays personality.

Sinclair and the rest of the team behind the daring looks of PEARLETTA’S Overtime collection each took part in creating something special. Creative Makeup Director, Jez Taylor (@jezlooks), and the Head Makeup Artists including Jess Panetta (@jesspanetta_hmu), Binndi Suvarna (@makeupbybindi_), Eve Fortin-Soumis (@eve.makeup_artist), and Monica Nicole Z (@monicanicolemua), took the time to paint and style the faces of the runway. With lots of red lips and cat eyes, the makeup enhanced the dramatic and over-the-top beauty of each piece. Creative Hair Director Dylan Cruickshank (@dylandoesmyhair), and Head Hair Stylist Athena Abraci (@hairxathena), ensured that the models varied in untamed and simply styled hairdos.

With teasing smiles and confident walks, and even offered coffee, the models replaced business casual with business sexy—solidifying the idea of clocking into the office in style with absolutely no care of what others might think about it.
Sinclair draws inspiration from real-life scenarios of everyday life and wants to capture stories within her designs. She uses fabrics and textures as a silent narrator to voice the power that simple pleats and ruffles hold when they move with the icon wearing them. Overtime combines the sophisticated maturity that women working in the office possess, with the wild and reckless behaviour of young adults. Where two opposite lifestyles collide, is Overtime, because why not be the best of both worlds?

When creating designs, she considers bolder concepts embracing being different in a society that frequently says “no” to new ideas. Her designs are not about grabbing attention, but rather demanding being seen and heard regardless of how one is dressed. She wants to make a statement that shows how she feels about the beauty of fashion and individuality.
Taking risks outside of “normal” boundaries is crucial in her art, as seen with Amelia Jesseau’s spilled coffee look; acting as an additional accessory to complete the look PEARLETTA is sharing with the world.

Watching this show felt like there was a story being told from the perspective of feminists with a slightly bratty demeanor, which made the entire collection even more interesting. Overtime is like a paradox of emotions, but Sinclair’s message was loud and clear—each look represented someone being unapologetically themselves. Good or bad, they expressed the meaningfulness behind dressing how they want compared to what others want. It’s about standing out and claiming your right to be treated with respect despite your outfit choices.
Overtime is such an inspiring collection, and it really just introduced a new kind of self-empowerment that everyone should reflect upon. It’s fun, chaotic, odd, refreshing, liberating, and beautiful all wrapped up into sultry work attire. PEARLETTA resonated with me a lot because I remember growing up with people telling me I was always dressed “too extra,” and seeing an entire collection with the aim to defy comments like that is truly iconic.
