The Global Fashion Collective at NYFW and RFWT
From Manhattan to Tokyo, GFC transforms runways and redefines fashion through international collaborations

The Global Fashion Collective (GFC) made a triumphant return to both the New York and Japan runways, seamlessly merging fashion and art. Showcasing established and emerging designers from across the globe, the collection featured the creative power of collaboration, unveiling its Spring/Summer 2027 collection, while GFC continued to amplify global voices through immersive presentations that elevate independent designers.
New York Fashion Week SS27 – Day 1
Set against the unmistakable backdrop of the Manhattan skyline, the first day of New York Fashion Week showcased refined tailoring, expressive silhouettes, intricate craftsmanship, and deeply personal references to culture and identity. GFC harnessed the expertise and artistry of designers from Peru, Canada, South Korea, Thailand, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Taiwan. Together, these fourteen creatives collaborated to create a distinct perspective onto the New York runway.

Reflecting the unique essence of New York City, GFC’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection highlighted international styles to cultivate an inclusive and diverse fashion industry. The first show opened with Noa Cernacelli’s striking vision of modern romance. Blending couture craftsmanship with sensual, sculptural femininity, the line showcased soft blush and nude tones, intricate corsetry, delicate lace, shimmering embellishments, feathered textures, and fluid draping.

Collections from Haitian-American designer Maison Hadascha unveiled modern Caribbean luxury on the New York runway. Infusing an effortless sense of femininity and refinement through fluid yet bold and structured silhouettes, the lineup spanned from luxury resort wear to knit couture.

Richard Wei presented his “Fashion is Art” collection, featuring sculptural gowns, fluid draping, and luminous fabrics to reflect a balance between structure and freedom. The Vancouver-based designer incorporated intricate embellishments and precise tailoring into a collection inspired by West Coast city life coexisting alongside mountains and oceans.

Show two unveiled Erika Chung’s “Taiwan Cha Mou Zai” collection inspired by her childhood in a local market where she watched her mother pack fresh vegetables into traditional woven bags. Reimagining familiar textures and techniques, each design reflected Taiwanese fashion through sculpted, feminine silhouettes, intricate handweaving, and delicate lace.

Carlton Jones’ “Second Nature” collection served as a love letter to New York and an exploration of what happens when urban energy meets the instinctive beauty of the natural world. The inspiration drawn from Puerto Rican shores was reflected in reimagined camouflage, lightweight mesh, and breathable Tencel, symbolizing nature’s distinct patterns, textures and disguises.

Designer Clair Marie’s collection captured the beauty and grandeur of the Italian and English Renaissance through revived historical silhouettes and details. Examined through a contemporary lens, each gown was reimagined with lace-up corsets, dramatic fabrics and romantic proportions.

BLTAM Entre debuted its sustainable collection on the New York runway designed by Jane Shin, Eunwoo Ji, Jia Kim, and Jiyoon Lee, who are aged 10 to 12. The Korean design collective combined Eastern and Western influences, contrasting visual elements, medical references, Korean natural silk, and refined silhouettes to convey themes of opportunity, human value, well-being, and freedom within fashion
New York Fashion Week SS27 – Day 2

Show three showcased Canadian designer Alex S. Yu whose collection explored youth nostalgia, transformation, and the bittersweet complexities of love. Reflecting how profound connections can reshape identity, the designer infused delicate tulle, chiffon textures, soft greys, and pastels that gradually evolved into distressed leather, raw denim, earthy tones, and hardware-driven detailing, visually capturing this metamorphosis.

A collection celebrating harmony, Fairy Princess Bangkok balanced delicate femininity and courage, reflecting the emotional depth and quiet strength that can lie beneath a gentle exterior. The designer delivered ethereal silhouettes defined by soft tones, sheer fabrics, and intricate detailing alongside complex constructions contrasted with airy materials.

BLUETAMBURIN returned to New York Fashion Week with its “Justice in Elegance” collection that reimagined classic couture silhouettes through the lens of sophistication and leadership. Led by creative director Bomin Kim, the collection featured refined tailoring and elegant forms that balanced traditional beauty.

Somaya Fashion Studio presented its “Threshold” collection in show four at New York Fashion Week, drawing inspiration from architecture and its Afghan-Canadian identity. Its incorporation of archways, curtains, woven forms, and structural silhouettes was balanced with fluid movements through an earthy neutral, deep blue, soft ivory and luminous chartreuse colour palette.

Indigenous designer Cathy Lopez presented a collection rooted in blending traditional sewing techniques and cultural storytelling into contemporary fashion landscapes. The brand celebrated heritage, artistry, and the contemporary expression of the Hopi and Santa Ana Pueblo communities through thoughtful craftsmanship and distinctive silhouettes, inspired by the landscapes, traditions, and visual language of the American Southwest.

Maya Mosteghanemi, showcased her “Anna Style” collection—named in homage to iconic fashion editor Anna Wintour—through sharp shoulders, assertive silhouettes, subtle glimpses of skin, and intricate embroidery. Referencing Renaissance France and the Golden Age of the Ottoman Empire, the collection blended its signature style with 1960s French womenswear.
Japan Fashion Week SS27
GFC transformed the Japan Fashion Week runway through its nature-inspired collections where designers used materials and structural pieces to reflect their visions. The showcase brought together a diverse array of designers from Japan and the United States whose creativity and innovation transformed the runway.

SHINO’s “Fragments of a Nameless World” collection brought the theatrical spirit of Japanese Visual Kei culture to the runway rooted in Gothic aesthetics, fetish fashion, medieval European craftsmanship, and Visual Kei. The Japanese costume designer and art director blurred the boundaries between couture, costume, performance, and contemporary art. The collection celebrated craftsmanship, theatrical beauty, individuality, and limitless self-expression through elaborate headpieces and treating every garment as a form of wearable art.

The “From the Spawning Grounds” collection transformed Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO into a celebration of the powerful connection between Native American culture, craftsmanship, and the natural world through lush fabrics and organic textures. Nar Rew Ekar by Shoshoni Hostler incorporated intricate beaded elements alongside shell and leather details rooted in traditional influences and techniques.

Perry Jones collection brought a refined vision of modern luxury to the international runway through impeccable tailoring, bold sophistication, and timeless elegance. Blending classic craftsmanship with contemporary design and reflecting the brand’s signature, the collection celebrated confidence, individuality, and elevated personal style using polished silhouettes, statement designs, and exceptional craftsmanship.
