Inside Runway 7 SS27: The Designers Shaping New York Fashion Week
138 designers and brands from 20 countries, six days of runway shows and a Malan Breton finale defined Runway 7’s eleventh season in New York.
From September 8 to 13, Runway 7 returned to Sony Hall during New York Fashion Week SS27. The programme brought together established labels, independent designers and emerging talent, spanning ready-to-wear, eveningwear, streetwear, resort collections and couture.
Alongside the runway shows, the event featured charitable initiatives addressing animal welfare, HIV awareness and cancer prevention. Elysian’s CatWalk FurBaby opened the six-day programme, which concluded with an exclusive presentation by Malan Breton.
Fashion With a Purpose
The season opened with Elysian’s CatWalk FurBaby, held for the fourth year under the theme Women Inspiring Women. Bringing designers and animal rescue organisations together, the event supported animal welfare and adoption initiatives.
Participating labels included Victor de Souza, Anne Fontaine, Marc Bouwer Studio and L’Agence x Cate Brown. Fern Mallis, a prominent figure in American fashion, was honoured for her contribution to the industry with a Lifetime Achievement award.
Social advocacy continued with HIV Unwrapped, a presentation addressing HIV-related stigma, and Project Lab Coat, which used fashion to raise awareness of cancer and its impact on individuals and communities.
As part of the latter initiative, Le Cœur en Scène drew inspiration from the theatrical elegance of European cabaret, bringing couture and charitable fundraising together in support of cancer awareness.

The Malan Breton Finale
On September 13, the six-day programme concluded with Malan Breton’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection, Le Jardin des Mille Demains (Garden of a Thousand Tomorrows). The presentation marked the designer’s farewell to New York ahead of the next chapter of his career in Rome.
Known for his combination of British tailoring and couture craftsmanship, Breton presented structured jackets, flared trousers and expressive eveningwear. The collection explored movement and proportion through precise construction, fluid fabrics and theatrical detailing.
Runway 7 Fashion Awards
On September 14, Sony Hall hosted the inaugural Runway 7 Fashion Awards, recognising achievements across fashion and related creative industries.
The awards celebrated work in fashion design, modelling, media, hairstyling and makeup artistry. The ceremony introduced a new dimension to Runway 7’s programme, extending its focus beyond runway presentations to professional recognition.
With its eleventh season, Runway 7 brought together established names and emerging designers across six days at Sony Hall. The programme reflected the range of voices shaping New York Fashion Week, from independent labels to internationally recognised couture houses.
