Montréal Fashion Week is this week, from September 21 to 27, just as fall begins and the city is arguably at its most beautiful. It’s the perfect opportunity to explore Montréal through the lens of fashion—from emerging designers and local labels to the city’s vibrant shopping scene and creative community.
But Fashion Week can sometimes feel like a closed-off world, especially if you don’t have an industry connection or invitation. So, whether you’re visiting Montréal or you’re a local looking to take part, we’re here to help.

McCord Stewart Museum – Afro and Indigenous Fashion Night ($10)

The McCord Stewart Museum and the Afro-Canadian Cultural Centre of Montreal come together for an evening celebrating Afro and Indigenous fashion, creativity, and cultural heritage. The program includes a runway show featuring local designers, a panel discussion exploring creativity and identity, and a designers’ market where visitors can discover and shop participating brands. Music, food, and access to select museum exhibitions round out the evening, with tickets priced at (just) $10.
SS26 Collection – Maison Joakim

Maison Joakim will present its SS26 collection in an immersive setting on Laurier Avenue. Staged inside a former art gallery and styled with vintage furniture, ceramics, and objects from the 1970s and ’80s, the presentation extends the brand’s aesthetic beyond clothing and into a complete visual world. Expect a thoughtful showcase centred on natural materials, timeless design, and Maison Joakim’s understated approach to contemporary fashion.

La Vitrine Québécoise by Les Effrontés is giving forgotten wardrobe favourites a second chance with its Express Styling sessions. From September 21–25, visitors can bring in a piece they love but no longer wear and work with one of the boutique’s stylists to find new ways to incorporate it into their wardrobe. If it is time to let the piece go, visitors can donate it on site, and clothing collected throughout the week will go to Le Chaînon. The free sessions offer a practical way to rethink personal style while encouraging a more circular approach to fashion.

La Fibre.Atelier is bringing upcycling into focus with a multi-day artist residency featuring designer Joëlle Paquette. On September 22 and 23, visitors can watch as Paquette transforms secondhand garments into a one-of-a-kind piece, offering a closer look at the creative possibilities of textile reuse. The program concludes on September 24 with networking and a panel discussion that brings together voices from fashion and communications to explore upcycling, circular fashion, and new ways to extend the life of clothing.
Raw Edge, Artist-in-Residence Program – Space for Rent

For ten days, Saint-Henri’s Loüable space becomes a shared studio for four artists working across fashion, design, and performance. RAW EDGE focuses on the less-polished side of making, inviting artists to experiment, exchange ideas, and explore work still in the process of becoming. The residency concludes with a public closing reception on September 23, where visitors can discover the works produced, learn more about the artists’ creative approaches, and catch a live performance at 7 p.m.

LIGNES DE FUITE joins Atelier Artefact and MOLD Gallery for a three-day showroom bringing independent fashion, art, and design under one roof. For Montreal Fashion Week, Chaînon Stores are making secondhand shopping even more accessible with their “Fill Your Bag for $10” event. From September 24–27, shoppers can browse secondhand clothing and fill an entire bag for just $10, with DJs on site Friday and Saturday. Beyond the bargain, every purchase supports Le Chaînon’s mission of helping women in need or experiencing homelessness.

The event also offers a chance to learn how donated clothing is selected and given a second life, with every purchase supporting Le Chaînon’s mission to help women in need or experiencing homelessness.
Fashion Exhibition – Batik Boutik

This exhibition is an exploration of fashion as a form of artistic and cultural expression. Through textiles, photography, film, and pieces from both the brand’s current collection and archives, the exhibition looks at themes of identity, self-expression, and the freedom to be oneself. Visitors can explore the space throughout the day, with a vernissage beginning at 6 p.m., and shop a selection of current and archival Batik Boutik pieces.
